P-51 Mustang in Flight

Fly the legendary P-51 Mustang “Little Rebel”

Imagine flying above the landscape of southwestern Bohemia in a beautifully restored P-51D aircraft, the same type in which Allied pilots, toward the end of the Second World War, escorted bomber formations over our territory and attacked locomotives and German transport convoys. It is not just a flight — it is also a journey back in time, from the cockpit of one of the most iconic aircraft of the Second World War.

The P-51 Mustang: A Game Changer in Europe

The P-51 Mustang played a pivotal role in the air war over Europe. Introduced in the early 1940s, it quickly became renowned for its speed, agility, and long-range capabilities. Mustangs escorted Allied bombers deep into enemy territory, protecting them from German fighters and helping to turn the tide of the air war. Their presence over the skies of France, Germany, Czechoslovakia and beyond was a symbol of hope. Pilots who flew the Mustang often spoke of its reliability, ability to withstand damage, and overall performance, which allowed them to engage enemy aircraft and return home safely.

The Patillo Brothers and "Little Rebel"

Among the many brave pilots who flew the Mustang, the twin Patillo brothers (Buck and Bill) stand out flying with the notorious "Blue Nosed Bastards" from their UK base. Buck Patillo was an ace who made history as the pilot of "Little Rebel". With six confirmed victories against German aircraft, Buck's skill and courage exemplified the spirit of the Mustang pilots flying with the 352nd Group where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters. The Patillo brothers' legacy is woven into the fabric of aviation history, and "Little Rebel" remains a living tribute to their service and sacrifice.
